Hello to all

This week's task, if you're up to it, is very simple - just casually mention a musical artist or band somewhere in your lyric. The lyric itself can be about any topic that you want and the song can be in any style.

There are zillions of songs that can serve as examples. You could easily fill a book with songs that mention Bob Dylan ("Mister Jones" by Counting Crows and Til Tuesday's "Coming Up Close" pop immediately to mind) but it's just as much fun to throw in someone who may be a part of a big band (such as Charlie Watts showing up in John Hyatt's "Slow Turning" and Bill Wyman appearing in the Smithereens' "Behind the Wall of Sleep") as well as bands that simply don't get enough credit (which is why it's so great to hear T Rex mentioned in "All the Young Dudes").

Of course, you can always string a bunch together and get a song like Bowling for Soup's "1985."

As always, I look forward to reading and to listening to what you come up with.

Peace

just a little trivia ror you David, but TRex have been mentioned in no less than four UK top 20 hits...the above mentioned All The Young Dudes; Kool ant the Kaftan by BARobertson ("Better go out and buy T. Rex, man!") You Better You Bet by the Who..."Drunk myself blind to the sound of old T.Rex" and T. Rex's own song, "The Groover" - "T! R! E! X!" :-)

"Sometimes the beauty of music can help us all find strength to deal with all the curves life can throw us." (D. Hodge.)
